Y G C. A different brand of hoops clinic.
Smart skills build Smart basketball players. Smart minds build Smart young men and women.
In his evolving basketball career, Marcus Smart is forging himself a brand of toughness, intelligence, and blue-collared grit that every coach dreams of in his or her players.
His coaches have used words such as "huge heart", "winner", "game-changer" and "tough" to describe his traits and character.
By keeping himself humble to the game, he has brought a rigid and edgy style of play back to the game of basketball.
Winning back-to-back state championships in the big-school division in Texas while attending Flower Mound Marcus HS; winning the Adidas Super64 in his AAU days with Texas Assault; competing in the McDonald's All-American Games; earning many Big 12 honors during his days at Oklahoma State University; earning the praise and trust of his USA Basketball coaches; and becoming the 6th pick in the 2014 NBA Draft and helping to lead the Boston Celtics to the 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 NBA playoffs; and being selected in the 2016 BBVA Rising Stars All-Star Rookie/Sophomore Weekend Game; and being selected to be a part of Team USA's 2016 Select Team in the Rio Olympic Games...are just a few of Smart's accomplishments on his very young basketball resume. Also, at the end of the 2019 NBA season, Marcus was awarded his highest accolade to date- NBA 1st Team All-Defense (along with Giannis, Eric Bledsoe, Paul George and Rudy Gobert).
Marcus was also selected as a Captain of the USA Basketball team which competed in the FIBA World Championships in Beijing, China during the summer of 2019.
His basketball academy, which includes summer and winter youth clinics in both Texas and Boston, are one way to improve skills such as ball handling, shooting, defense, "thinking-the-game", and also a way to reinforce the discipline needed in today's young men and women.
His clinics are designed to push the players by maximizing their skill development, while having fun. Player's will be taught skills they can work on individually at their home court, and also on the court with their teammates and coaches.
Marcus believes that every time he steps on the floor, he needs to be a "young-game-changer".
And so, his belief has evolved in to his brand- YOUNGAMECHANGER!
It's your turn now!
